Fernando Torres has shown great form recently, scoring an excellent solo goal against West Ham a week ago before netting a hat-trick in the 6-1 romp against Premier League strugglers Hull City. Torres certainly looks to be enjoying himself at Liverpool, and is forming a brilliant partnership with fellow Liverpool idol Steven Gerrard.

Meanwhile Liverpool's Spanish manager Rafael Benitez has revealed that some Premier League clubs tried signing Torres during the summer. Perhaps the clubs felt that due to Liverpool's rumoured financial problems, they may feel tempted to part with the hugely talented front man. Although no clubs were mentioned, logic would lead you to believe that Manchester City would have made an enquiry about Torres, due to their sudden riches (and the fact that they have been linked with just about every half-decent forward in the world.

Also I wouldn't be surprised if either Manchester United of Chelsea made a cheeky bid of their own for Torres, again believing that if Liverpool are desperate to raise some cash to pay off debts that the owners don't like to carry then they may be forced to accept a massive bid. However, it is clear that Benitez will never sell Torres, and I don't see why they would sell to any rival Premier League side, as Liverpool and its fans are all desperate to win the league as soon as possible.
